Project Equity

Inception

The LEPG came to us once again at Morgan Lewis' Digital Transformation team, where I was the head of new software development. This time, the group requested an app to help them keep track of long-form text data regarding the gender pay gap in various countries and the laws that may, or may not, enforce pay equity.

More than a CRUD App?

In addition to the basic CRUD operations, the stakeholders would need a way for external parties to submit updates to various country records for review by our internal team. So we needed to design a flow that would act as a primitive Git system, with a visual track changes feature plus some mechanism to catch and handle merge conflicts.

Planning

In addition to the standard planning described in the MVP checklist, I produced the following artifacts to keep different user roles straight in everyones' heads. This was especially useful for our development partners overseas, who all speak English as a second language.

This established a standardized nomenclature for users we could adhere to easily across language barriers. I'd refer to an "Internal Admin Requester," and everyone from design to engineering would know what I was talking about.

Design

Development

The most interesting aspect of developing this was the version control feature, which involved visualizing changes between document versions. Our server team created a system that provides features similar to Git's branching and pull requests, with the primary difference being that our system allows only one branch to be open at a time.
